Orchha Tourism

Orchha is a queerly beautiful town located in the Tikamgarh district of Madhya Pradesh. The little town rests in the Bundelkhand region and basks in the glory of lying along the banks of Betwa River. The history has bestowed it with many things, such as its vicinity to the princely state of Jhansi. It was the former Bundela chief who established the city of Orchha that dates back to the 16th century.

The Bundela rulers constructed many temples and palaces during their reign, and most of them are in unspoilt condition till date. Two of the well known temples of the town are the Chatur Bhuj temple and the Raj Mandir. The Chatur Bhuj temple was built by the Queen of Orchha.  

The name Orchha is said to be derived from a sneering remark which was made by a Rajput chief when he visited the place. Literally, the word translates to ‘hidden

The city of Orchha offers a large number and variety of forts, palaces and temples to explore during the visit. Its most popular category of sightseeing destinations are its ancient palaces of the Bundela period.

Best Time to Visit Orchha ( peak season ) : -

This region experiences a temperate climate, with the summer months of April to August being not too hot and the winter months of December to February being not too cold. The months of October to March are said to be the best time to visit Orchha.


How to Reach Orchha : -

- By Air
The airport that is proximal to Orchha is Gwalior Airport, which is at a distance of 113 km from Orchha; along with Khajuraho Airport at the distance of 155 km from Orchha.
- By Rail
Jhansi is the place where there lies the nearest- measly 16 km away- railway statio.
- By Road
Orchha, having such an importance in the history is well-linked to the regions, such as Jhansi, Gwalior and Khajuraho. Bus or taxi could be hired from there.
